SAI has partnered with several organizations in South Asia to create internship projects for Harvard undergraduate and graduate students. We can provide students with assistance in finding an organization that is a good match and facilitating communication between host organization and students. APPLICATION PROCESS

South Asia Initiative (SAI) Internship grants are available to Harvard undergraduate and graduate students.

 

- Students are required to apply directly to individual institutions for the internship position.

- Students will then apply directly to SAI for internship funding.

Application Deadline: February 17, 2012, 3 p.m.

UNDERGRADUATE applications will be collected in CGIS South, Room S030, 1730 Cambridge Street.

GRADUATE applications will be collected in the SAI offices, CGIS South, 4th Floor.

Application components include:

 

- Letter of Intent, due to SAI February 10, 2012

**Note – due to high interest – we have extended the deadline for our letter of intent. This is now due Friday, February 10. All other application materials remain due Friday, February 17.**

 

This informal letter should include:

1) what your plans are

2) whether you've reached out to any SAI partnered organizations (below) or other South Asian organizations

3) if you've received acceptance of your internship

This letter is a required part of your application. You may email or mail the letter to the address below.

 

- Letter of acceptance from the in-region organization stating that you have been accepted. This letter should include the name of the organization, contact person and details, and your internship dates.

 

- The CARAT application, including a budget form.

 

- A carefully written proposal of 750 words outlining the project you hope to undertake and the rationale for pursuing it in your destination(s).

 

- A current one-page resume.

 

- A current official transcript.

 

- Two letters of recommendation sealed in original envelope. (These may come from any sources, however we recommend one academic and one from an employer.)

Excluding the letters of recommendation and CARAT application, please provide two copies of each application component. Please paper-clip the sealed recommender envelopes to each application packet. If you are submitting mutiple applications but a recommender has provided only one letter, our staff will make and collate the require additional copies.

 

Upon return, students are required to submit a written report detailing the experience. Images and video are also highly encouraged. View examples of past reports here.
