South Asia Initiative Summer Internship Program

The South Asia Initiative offers its Summer Internship Program for 2012.
The goal of the Summer Internship Program is to enhance scholarship in salient issues impacting the region by developing sustained relationships between agencies in South Asia, and students and faculty at Harvard. SAI has partnered with several organizations in South Asia to create internship projects for Harvard students. We can provide students with assistance in finding an organization that is a good match and facilitating communication between host organization and students.

Process: SAI welcomes undergraduate students to submit a letter of intent (by February 10, 2012) detailing a student’s interest in the region, and outlining expectations for an internship in terms of industry and function. SAI will then assist students by providing information about SAI internship partner organizations that may be a good match and facilitating communication between the two.
Upon securing an acceptance letter from a host organization, students are welcome to apply for funding assistance through SAI’s Grant Program, which can range from $500-$2,000. Students are also encouraged to apply for funding through other sources.
Important dates:
February 10, 2012*: Submit a Letter of Intent to SAI
Early February:
- Meet with SAI for assistance in finding a host organization that is a good match for your interests.
- Communicate with host organization to obtain an internship.
February 17, 2012:
- Submit letter of acceptance along with Grant Application to SAI and other sources of funding.
March 26, 2012*: Grant award decisions are made

Late Summer:
- Submit 2-3 page written/multimedia grant report describing your experience.
- Complete an average expense report. Click here.
- Complete a post internship online evaluation. Click here.
- Become a SAI ambassador and help spread the word about the internship program to other students!
